fish tank on balcony

Many people have pets in the house and some of them choose their pets to be fish. Well, it is obvious that if you have fish you must also have a fish tank for them. But , depending on the size and number of your fish and also on the species you must choose the right tank. If you follow the proper instructions you will know exactly what to do to offer them the appropriate living conditions. But then there is one more question: where to place the fish tank in the house?Well, if your fish tank is small you can place it almost everywhere, but if it is bigger you should be very careful. However, there are a few things you should consider when choosing the right spot for your fish tank and basically these are the places that are forbidden for a fish tank or better said which are better to avoid. For example it is better for you to avoid placing it near the windows. That is because they will be exposed to direct sunlight and if your fish are used to living in deep waters this won’t be good for them.

Besides, windows are made to be opened and fish don’t normally like sudden temperature changes. That same condition applies if you place the fish tank near heaters or radiators. So avoid doing so, as you must keep a constant temperature in the tank. It is also a good idea to keep the fish tank away from any power source like a wall plug or some other electrical wires because in case of accident it is better to keep these things away from water.Try to place the fish tank somewhere where you can easily see them in order to notice any sudden changes in their behavior or if they get sick or there are some cracks. So avoid the places in the house where you rarely go or where you do not pay attention to the surrounding area, like a dark hallway or the balcony or something similar. Basically place it under your permanent supervision, but not some place with a lot of traffic.post #1 of 13 (permalink) Small apartment balcony pond possible? Wall of text incoming! How much light would one need? We have a tree blocking our balcony, but we get partial sun. Enough to grow gardenia, amaryllis, hyacinth. So not too much light, but some. Could we have one in that much shade?
fish tanks for sale in michiganI live in south Texas, and it can get 100 degrees in the shade lol.
fish tanks watch onlineBut I would like a lily or two out there if I can find one to grow in shade. We love fancy goldfish, we have one of our 60 gallons for just our 3 lol. If its large enough, I'd like a fantail out there. But I'd want at least 20 gallons for each (if we were to get more than one). I saw someone else's post about fancy guppies. I can probably do that since I have some guppies that are breeding (not like they ever stop) some nice cobra colors. Could they stand our heat here?

Anyone have a link to an online store where I can look at small ponds for what we'd like? Just for an idea, I'd like to try and save money to buy our things locally. Can we have one without a filter? We have no outlet out there Maaaaybe we can run one under our bedroom door. Stagnant water here is begging for mosquito larvae. We'd need a fish to eat those up. That's all I can think of for now. Which I think I've rambled a ton about. Thanks to anyone who got this far and is able to answer or give feedback! post #2 of 13 (permalink) You can look at my tub-pond No filtration or any sort of electrical devices. Three goldfishes are spawning and theres some plants. It is on full sun the whole year and its doing fine. So, its possible . post #3 of 13 (permalink) post #4 of 13 (permalink) Would something like that be possible in almost full shade? Yup Sophie, she said that it would be ok to 850 or a little more, but anything over 1,000 would be issues with insurance.

I do not have the balcony space for that lol. post #5 of 13 (permalink) Originally Posted by Sophie and Mom All of those things replace water, so its not really a plus. I can put it in the space right across from the swing. It would be a low tech nano pond? If that's possible lol. What size could fit there? Can I do this with that much shade? Right now it's overcast, but the edge of the balcony gets sunlight. Edit: I can remove the spathiphyllum if I need to. That can always go inside the apartment. That can give some more room in the corner. post #7 of 13 (permalink)5.5 gallons of pure loathing. Kind of like how they have the DIY rock looking aquarium backgrounds. That got me thinking of some kind of river rock (I can get lots of that for free here... from the rivers lol) and attaching it to the sides of the container. Maybe filling it in with some kind of grout? Even cement I think? Wonder if I could find a triangle shaped one for the corner. Instead of lilies, if I can't find one for shade... Could I riparium rig something there? Or even above the water, a high humidity plant. If anything, it's humid here and that would make it moreso. Maybe purple bamboo in the water? BTW, thank you everyone for the comments. It makes me think something like this could work! If anyone has any ideas whatsoever on plants or construction, I am all ears. post #9 of 13 (permalink) For situation like that i would go for glass outdoor pond, something like this With the glass you can watch fishes while swinging post #10 of 13 (permalink) post #11 of 13 (permalink)
