I visited here with my son, who ranked it below the Hoh Rainforest only! The otters had just been fed when we arrived. While captivity is another discussion, the staff we talked to all offered great educational information. You can approach staff at various stations and engage them to learn more about the fish of the aquarium.The large wall aquarium tank was tranquil to just stand and watch. Hands on area fun & educational for the kids. We went to the Aquarium for a little over an hour to pass the time on a rainy day. Plan to stay longer with children. There are a lot of exhibits where you can touch sea life, dress up as a diver, play/identify toy fish, and other hands on learning activities. It is a small aquarium but very nice. The Seattle Aquarium is one of the better aquariums that I have visited. They give you a lot of information about local animals and how to preserve our natural resources. There are multiple tanks for touching animals, which kids and adults alike enjoy.

You can also see some of the marine mammals interact with their handlers at feeding time. The Seattle Aquarium is fairly small and I would only recommend coming here if you purchased a CityPass booklet or if you have never been to an aquarium before. I found it to be a little underwhelming but I do not feel like I wasted my time as the whole thing can be walked in under an hour. They called it Ring of Life - but if Jellyfish are in a lifesaver shaped tank you can walk through - it should be called Jelly Donut!! We were there on a special event day so got some extra interactions with docents and volunteers, and the place was packed with kids. Nice vibe - lots of fun. We popped in on a rainy day, the octopus was huge my grandkids were thrilled with the touching section and my older grandkids loved the otters. It was a great way to spend the day together on a rainy day We were there on a rainy weekday and it was quite crowded with pre-school and school-aged children. There were enough exhibits and enough interaction to keep different ages engaged, with a diver swimming in a large tank and also the chance to touch some flora and fauna.
