I have a 55G freshwater tank with discus in it and was looking out for a marine tank of about 4 ft. The estimate he gave dazzled me! He says about 1.5 lakh! ! 2.he said for a 4 ft tank, a sump of 2 ft needs to be fit in in the cabinet. 3. Then there was this huge filter for the tank in the cabinet 4. A bit of aqua scaping . Although it looked like corals, I wasn't convinced it was genuine. 5. He said he would add in a few anemone ' s (2 or 3) and few clown fishes. 6. Remaining basic set up requirements Now the question is, is he ripping me off. Pls let me know. Should I look for other alternative seller's .? Posted on General Salt Water Questions I hope someone from India can answer you with more accuracy, but I can tell you that a new marine set up can be very, very expensive ! The sump is necessary, the big filter and live rocks are necessary.

The prices I see here in Canada for even tiny coral frags, which are very small rocks or ceramic plugs mounted with very small pieces of coral that will grow with time, are really expensive too. Larger specimens can be terribly expensive because many grow very slowly. Compared to most fresh water fish, marine fish are incredibly expensive. So while I cannot tell if the price for what you describe is fair, I can tell you that marine is very costly in comparison to most fresh water set ups. Marine fish are super sensitive to even a trace of nitrates so those have to be managed at very near zero, much lower than fresh water does, and they are even less tolerant of ammonia and nitrite than fresh water fishes are. Lovely to have and observe but a big investment. Thanks a lot just to give u an idea about the pricing , my freshwater tank of 55 g along with 5 discus of 5" cost me about say around 550US $. and this marine tank of 4 ft would be around 2500US $. so guess from what u have mentioned above , it was a fair enough price that he quoted.

If it dies, it can possibly take out your whole tank because of the toxins it releases.
