Fish Chip (33)Whole Fish (27)Yellowtail (18)La Plancha (17)It was the 1st eating there and it was good.. just some miscommunication on not getting the food that was order.. the server didn't hear what was order and didn't get the food.. other than that it's cool. Was this review useful to you?YesNoReport5543Everything is DELICIOUS - drinks, oysters, lobster roll, romanesco... even the bread is amazing!Best Octopus I have ever had! YesNoReport5443The oysters and main dish were amazing. Loved the decor and atmosphere.YesNoReport5533The food is v always excellent, consistency is always on point. Never disappointedWas this review useful to you?Yellowtail not so much. Service was a bit upitity.YesNoReport3533Fabulous food, and the Octopus is a must! Server was great and raw bar was freshWas this review useful to you?YesNoReport5454Always a fantastic time at Ironside. I can't say enough about the servers. Very knowledgable and always spot-on!YesNoReport5454We went before going to the theater in Balboa Park.

The ambiance is clever, particularly the pirahna wall. The food is good, but not spectacular. We had small entrees with a couple of sides. The bean cassoulet was the most memoalrable. Maybe it was just our choices, but be prepared for a lot of garlic.YesNoReport3444Great atmosphere and decor. Looking forward to coming back again.YesNoReport5555Terrible service and food quality. Every single item that came out from the kitchen was wrong. Manager never even came to apologize. Food wasn't edible on most items and not one thing was offered. Took two and a half hours to get the food straight. You couldn't pay me to go there again!YesNoReport1311Out for dinner as my wife had just gotten in from out of town and nothing in the house to cook. We live near Ironside and had passed it a lot of times. Based on the reviews, decided to give it a try. We really like the decor. The staff was friendly and efficient. This is a busy place, but the staff makes you feel welcome. Great list of whiskeys and Ryes.

We started with the Ceviche, which says it has habanero. It does, but so little that it isn't overwhelming. Just a minor buzz when you eat it. I had the fish & chips. The fish is cod, was cooked perfectly and the chips were great. Both a bit more salt than I prefer, but very good. The coleslaw was also very good. My wife ordered the halibut dinner. The portion was pretty small, and it was slightly overcooked. Still tasty, but just a bit dry. For the relative prices, the fish & chips was a bargain while we were underwhelmed by the halibut. They had a nice looking dessert variety, but we didn't indulge. Would we go again, certainly. Will we order the halibut, probably not. Still, a hopping, happening place in Little Italy. Was this review useful to you?Food was great especially the oysters and the octopus app. The place had a lot of energy but not too loud to talk at the table. Service was very good. It also was a large bar and outside tables. I guess the only thing we didn't care for was the open air opening in the sink into the next bath room...poor design.

YesNoReport5554Food was delicious and service was good. Would recommend to friends. Decor was nautical and I loved the piranhas on the wall.YesNoReport4444Awesome food and staff. used fish tanks for sale in albuquerqueTons of fun with friends.
fish tanks for sale in prince georgeUnfortunately the piece of halibut for $35 was as large as a Triscuit biscuit, the bar didn't stock cranberry juice to make a cosmopolitan or vodka Cran and when asking for a Gray Goose Vodka rocks with a lime squeeze, the bar only stocked Smirnoff and Tito's vodka.

I then politely ask the bartender to squeeze a lime in my vodka, she said it is too hard to squeeze a lime so we have "lime juice", I said no thank you and walked away with a drink that was overpriced in very unsatisfying. The waitstaff at our table was very accommodating and gracious. Bon appétitWas this review useful to you?YesNoReport3552We have come a number of times and always impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness of the waitstaff. Highly recommend the octopus appetizer and if you ever see louvar on the menu (at Ironside or anywhere else) jump on it!YesNoReport5443I was expecting a broader menu they didn't really have much just the basics. I got a lobster roll just because there was nothing really else to get and though it was tasty I would have liked to try something unique which there was not many options.YesNoReport2422I chose this place because of recent reviews I had seen. They have delicious food and a knowledgeable staffWas this review useful to you?YesNoReport4553We always have a great time a this place.

Service is terrific and the food is great too. It is our go to when we have out of town guests or if we need an oyster fix. YesNoReport5554Chowder in a very shallow dish so soup was cold. Service was NOT there!YesNoReport3211Our food and service was excellent. The oysters were super fresh.YesNoReport5555Nos toco mal servicio. El mesero nos trajo la cuenta antes del postre y cafe.YesNoReport4524This is our second visit to the restaurant as we live in Seattle and only get to San Diego a couple of times a year. I'm always impressed by the freshness of the Oysters!! I'm a huge oyster fan and Ironside has yet to disappoint. (When we asked the server where in Washington the oysters were from, he took the time to find out...we liked that!)We usually share small plates, after oysters, and we can recommend the octopus - it was tender and nicely spiced. The muscles were also very good. (However we thought that the kale salad could have used a bit more squash and grapefruit plus maybe some pistachios for crunch.)

The restaurant is lively and loud so it's not the place for a quiet intimate conversation. We will be back next San Diego visit!YesNoReport4444Great food as usual. The mussels are outstanding. The Ironside bread is ridiculously yummy. Good service tooWas this review useful to you?YesNoReport5555We had a reservation for 10 at 7:45 which required a credit card to secure. We were not seated until 8:50. There is no room in the bar area to wait as they serve at the bar and all the small bar tables were reserved for dining so we had to wait on the street with no where to sit. Once seated, wine came quickly but drinks from the bar took forever and served in small squat champagne glasses so not worth the wait! Definitely not for a larger group! Food was ok but not worth the hassle! My husband and I both had the Branzino and it was a nice size portion and delicious. Octopus was also great! The grilled Caesar salad, I would never order again however. My biggest complaint is that the drink menu, well incredibly extensive, lacked freshness.

All our cocktails tasted like they came out of a gun (pre-made). But the service was great and the atmosphere likely. I would go back. Will stick to wine next time!YesNoReport4543Best lobster roll and oystersWas this review useful to you?YesNoReport5555Prompt and reliable service with friendly personnel. Great experience and tasty octopus. A little noisy but lively atmosphere..I had an absolutely mind blowing dessert that I might have to travel back to SD just for it.YesNoReport4444Clam chowder was wonderful. Lobster roll was just ok.YesNoReport3434Buena comida, lugar agradable. The oysters are fabulous, the fish and chips and mussels, too! Definitely, a restaurant to which we will return!YesNoReport5555Great Place and Good Food!!! It has a Nice Atmosphere, is Perfect for Friends Meetings!YesNoReport4444very consistent food and service. I love the ambience of the place and its location in Little Italy.I always look forward to eating there each time I am in San DiegoWas this review useful to you?
