Having such a wide variety of fish, coral, and inverts requires a wide variety of food. For live food, we stock Crayfish, Rosey Red Minnows, Guppies, Ghost Shrimp, DTs, Rotifers, and Reef Pods. At House of Tropicals, we don't just do fish. We are home to Maryland's finest reptile room, with everything you need to raise snakes, reptiles, and amphibians. We also carry small mammals and rodents, like hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, and mice (including feeders for the reptiles). Garden ponds are another of our specialties. We have been in the garden pond business for over 40 years. We sell garden pond fish and some aquatic pond plants (in season).

This is a picture of a 120-gallon living reef exhibit that we did for a residential customer. The customer is an environmental scientist and wanted to make sure he had all the best equipment. We were able to include the majority of the life support system right under the aquarium. This includes a sump, refugium, circulation pumps, protein skimmer, calcium reactor, and a computer to monitor and control it. 

This 400-gallon custom living reef exhibit is perched on the 22nd floor of a high rise residence in Philadelphia. As you step off the elevator, a view of the city skyline can be seen through the reef display. It’s rather elaborate life support system includes a remote monitoring device that calls us in the event things don’t look just right.
