Place an aquarium thermometer as far away from the heater as possible to ensure proper temperature readings. You will want to make sure that the filter and the heater are on all the time. If you are using an air pump, don’t forget the check valve. When installed correctly, this important piece of equipment will prevent water from draining from the tank through the airline tubing when the air pump is turned off. As for which brand I can’t help you there I bought one that I used for about a week and then it went into storage. Just make sure that if you buy the air tubing separate that it is the right size.
