These bubbles are then more easily absorbed by your aquarium water. Position your diffuser on the oposite side to your out-let flow. Your flow coming from your filter will then push the bubbles downwards, allowing for better diffusion rates. - The drop checker is another piece of kit used to measure the amount of CO2 diffused into your water. It is a little vessel that holds an special indicator liquid that changes colour depending on the concentration of CO2 in your aquarium water.

Blue indicates too little CO2, yellow is too much, and green is the correct amount. Plants flourish best at around 30ppm underwater.  This is also a safe level for your fish. Too much CO2 and you put your fish at risk. Too little and there may not be enough CO2 for successful plant growth. As most of you know Greenmann Aquatics is a run myself, David Green, and my partner Lucie Mann. 4 weeks ago we had a huge shock as Lucie suffered two strokes and was admitted to hospital. She is recovering very well but slowly, therefore our business is going to need to go through a few changes. Lucie has always focused on the aquaponics side of our business and would like to continue to do so.

I, mys...elf, have been focusing on the pond cleaning and building which I have been doing for 30 years. Due to all of this, we have decided that we can no longer man our unit and trade shop for you that we have in Three Legged Cross. The pond cleaning and building will be going mobile and all information will be on the website and can be booked via phone or email. Lucie will slowly be visiting our commercial greenhouse more as she gets better to continue growing the Aquaponics side of the business. We have loved working on the shop floor with everyone and then in the unit as a trade counter for the last 8 years, but believe out in the community we can bring more to this area of business and develop our work as it's needed. We will keep you updated if we choose to have visitable premises again but in the meantime, keep an eye out for our upcoming and last Koi Sale at the unit which will include fish and lots of equipment/food. If it has been switched off or left for the winter, a pond needs new bacteria adding and filters/pumps cleaning and any bulbs replacing. Being a wildlife pond, great care was needed not to disturb the wildlife. We took out all the dead plant material, the huge abundance of water soldiers, some of which were in flower. It is very unusual to see so many water soldiers in flower. There was lots of crassula which is a highly invasive plant which can easily clog a pond, due to its nature it is almost impossible to eradicate, work on removing it yearly will keep it in check. It is very important NOT to put it on your compost or let it escape into the environment. If your pond needs our attention this spring with anything from full cleans - repairs - filter cleans or general tidy ups get in touch!
